Situated on a large estate horse farm in Sewickley Heights, this beautiful historic farmhouse has experienced several additions and renovations over the years. |
Beautiful panoramic views exist from every window in the home. The original two-story portion of the house is positioned in the middle section of the structure, with additions that complement the original structure to the sides. Our client requested a log cabin addition that would appear as if it was the original structure. |
The design for the new log cabin was achieved from a reclaimed cabin in central Pennsylvania. All of the components of the cabin were each labeled as a kit of parts and shipped to the Sewickley residence. A new hallway was incorporated with a wall of south facing windows to link the existing structure to the new log cabin. On the first floor of the cabin is a sitting area with a large wood-burning fireplace. The second floor incorporated a game room for entertaining. |
The structure was designed with new structural insulated roof panels and a new concrete foundation. The walls were insulated between the logs with a new insulation spray foam that provides the character of the original structure but adds “R” value to the envelope. |
